About Us

The John Heuerman Tennis Academy was established in 1991 with a view to making tennis accessible to all the community. Our coaches pride themselves on creating a fun and enjoyable approach to tennis for all ages and abilities. All of our coaches are LTA Accredited and internationally qualified, they hold a current enhanced DBS check and are able to deliver group and 1:1 sessions. John created his Tennis Academy in 1991 with a vision of making tennis accessible to the whole community while offering the highest level of instruction. John reached the highest level of US qualifications as well as completing his LTA exams and encourages the mixture of both when delivering his programmes.

Camilla Wimble
Academy Manager/Co-ordinator

 

Originally working in our specialist shop in her teens and then progressing into coaching, Camilla has worked part-time and full time within the Academy for over the last 20 years. 

Camilla manages the coaches diaries and co-ordinates the day to day running of The Tennis Academy. 

She is an LTA Accredited Coach and UK PTR Qualified.

Steve Seffens

Head Coach

 

Steve is qualified with PTRUK and loves all levels of coaching from grass roots, schools tennis all the way through to performance tennis. Steve is the main point of contact for all things competition based, organising our Junior teams and matchplays at Hollybush.

James Dunn

Coach

 

Joined the Academy in 2020 and experienced life in lockdown as a tennis coach. James and LTA Accredited and still competes at local level

Paul McDonagh

Coach

 

Paul has been with the Academy since its inception in 1991 as a trainee and is fully US and LTA qualified. Paul has vast experience in teaching and also has worked for several years within the pro shop. Paul also has a great passion for football and is qualified to UEFA B level and has managed Charlton Athletc ladies as well as locally. The good news is he teaches to miss the net in tennis but hit the net in football
